Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-06-26
Welcome to Smasher.ca (the "Service"), an invite-only community platform for badminton and racquet sports in the Greater Toronto Area. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility & accounts
You must be 18 years of age or older to create your own account. The Service is currently offered to adults only; a separate parent/guardian process for members under 14 will be introduced later, and until then no account may be created for or by a minor. The Service is invite-only — every account is created through a single-use invitation from an existing member, and you are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide (including your email, phone number and region). You may hold only one account, and you are responsible for activity under it.
2. Identity & verification
Your account identity is based on your verified email address, phone number and region. You consent to receiving one-time codes by email and SMS for verification and account security. Core identity details can be changed only through a support request handled by an administrator, to protect the integrity of the community.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including: harassing or abusing other members; submitting false, offensive or misleading content; attempting to access data that is not yours; scraping, reverse engineering, or overloading the Service; or using it for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Member content
You are responsible for the content you submit (such as display names, group names, team names and match scores). You grant us a limited licence to store and display that content within the Service so it functions for you and your groups. Do not submit content you do not have the right to share.
5. Rewards (CourtSeal)
The Service may offer a loyalty feature called CourtSeal. CourtSeals have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged for money, and may be adjusted or discontinued. Any future paid features and refunds will be governed by the terms presented at the time of purchase.
6. Stats & estimated play time
The Service shows personal stats such as matches played, win/loss records, and time on court. Time and hours figures are estimates only — they are approximated from when a match is started and finished in the app (and other in-app activity), not measured precisely, and may be capped or rounded. They are provided for casual, motivational purposes, are not guaranteed to be accurate, and must not be relied upon for any official, competitive, fitness, medical, or other consequential purpose. Achievements, stars, streaks and similar features have no monetary value.
7. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We will take reasonable steps to protect your information and to minimise the impact of any security incident, but no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee against unauthorised access. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Smasher.ca and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from a data breach, service interruption, or member conduct. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under applicable law that cannot be waived.
8. Indemnity
You agree to hold Smasher.ca and its operators harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms and our Privacy Policy at any time. The current version is always available on this page with the "Last updated" date shown above, so please check back periodically. For significant changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify members. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated or to protect the community or the Service.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of- law principles.
